The Waterford native has been in charge at the FAI for seven years and will remain in power until 2015 at least.
He has constantly been forced to justify his renumeration during his tenure; last year he took a 7% salary cut, while some FAI technical staff have lost their jobs in recent times.
“We regret any changes that result in job losses, but the numbers are small in comparison to redundancies in companies the length and breadth of Ireland,” Delaney told the AGM, according to Highland Radio:
“We have a duty to our members to make the most effective use of our resources. No business survives unless it adapts. Difficult times are ahead for everyone, but we are prepared to meet the challenges. In my own case I will take a further 10% pay cut.”
