According to Midi-Olympique, the Ireland fly-half, who only made his debut for the Top 14 club last August after leaving Leinster on a two-year deal, has asked Bordeaux president Laurent Marti to be released from the final year of his contract.

The 27-year-old has not featured as regularly as he would’ve hoped and reportedly would like a move to the the Premiership with several English clubs believed to be interested.

And Bordeaux won’t stand in his way with Toulouse’s Englishman Toby Flood lined up as a replacement.
