BRIAN O’DRISCOLL HAS wished former team-mate Ian Madigan well after his move to France was confirmed this afternoon.
The out-half will leave Leinster at the end of the season after signing a two-year deal with Bordeaux Bègles.
The 26-year-old had been heavily linked with a move away from the province after he found opportunities at his preferred number 10 position limited.

And in a video posted to his website, O’Driscoll says Madigan deserves the right to pick a club where he was going to get the chance his undoubted talent deserves.
It was inevitable @Ian_madigan would leave. Deserves to start as a 10 somewhere so good luck to him. Really hope it works out.
“First of all, I’d like to wish him the best of luck,” the former Ireland captain said.
“His service to Leinster over the last six or seven years and to Ireland in the last couple of years, winning multiple trophies, has definitely earned him the right to pick a club where he’s going to be number one 10, his preferred position, where he can marshal and control things, where he probably didn’t get the full opportunity to do at Leinster for multiple reasons.”
O’Driscoll also explained why he didn’t think a switch to Munster was a viable option for Madigan and admitted Leinster’s loss is very much Bordeaux’s gain.
