'Fidel Castro,' 'Leon Trotsky' and 'Karl Marx' all named in Hyde City FC's latest starting XI*

*According to the Conference North side’s official Twitter account.

THE OFFICIAL TWITTER account of Conference North club Hyde City FC gained a sudden boost in popularity recently.

The club gained considerable traction on social media after the account posted a rather odd-looking team line-up.

It read as follows:

No, they haven’t suddenly bought a number of players who coincidentally all share their names with socialist revolutionaries.

The explanation is that Hyde played several trialists, and rather than using the ‘a trialist’ moniker normally adopted in such circumstances, they decided to have some fun.

The quirky move led to several further amusing history-related jokes.

Possibly inspired by this comedic genius, Hyde and their array of trialists went on to win their match against Altrincham 5-4 on penalties, after drawing 2-2 in normal time.
