Mats Hummels has turned down United and will stay at Dortmund next season - report

The German defender was watching MUTV the other night then.

GERMANY DEFENDER Mats Hummels has ended speculation about a possible transfer to Manchester United by confirming he will play for Borussia Dortmund next season, according to a report this morning.

The 26-year-old has turned down an approach from the Premier League giants and the Dortmund captain has told Borussia he will fulfil his contract which expires in 2017, according to magazine Kicker.

โ€œIt was fair enough that Mats gave it some thought, but I have always pointed out that he is firmly part of our plans,โ€ said Dortmundโ€™s director of sport Michael Zorc.

Zorc said he had met with Hummels and his father Hermann, who is also his agent, in which there was a โ€œclear consensusโ€ that he would stay with Dortmund.

Hummels fuelled speculation that he was considering a move to United in recent weeks by repeatedly admitting he was weighing up his options.

Reports in the UK media suggested Louis van Gaalโ€™s United had offered โ‚ฌ40million for Hummels. But the Germany star will now play a central role in the plans of future Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel, who will replace current boss Jurgen Klopp next season.

A bruised foot meant Hummels sat out last Saturdayโ€™s 2-1 league defeat at VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga, a dress rehearsal for the German Cup final on May 30.

He should be fit for Saturdayโ€™s final home match against Werder Bremen with Dortmund needing a win, and for other results to go their way, in their bid for a Europa League place next season.

Hummels, a World Cup winner, came to Dortmund in 2008 on loan basis from Bayern Munich before signing a full contract and has made 194 league appearances scoring 17 goals.

Dublin hurlers havenโ€™t been beaten in Parnell Park since March 2011. I think (and hope) theyโ€™ll take Limerick on the day.

We do have a good record there but itโ€™s not like we play 20 home games a season in Parnell park. How many matches since 2011?

No but statistics can be misleading, is all Iโ€™m saying. 5 years unbeaten sounds great but a lot of our handful of home games have been played in Croke park.

Brain dead GAA scheduling Limerick Dublin an hour after Munster Leinster kick off in the Aviva stadium. Is it wrong for fans to support two sports. Rugby has been scheduled for months now.

I think maybe instead of tossing a coin for home venues when two teams that played the same amount of home league games that instead the 1B team gets automatic home advantage.correct me if Iโ€™m wrong but I think itโ€™s the 2nd year in a row Dublin have got home advantage against limerick through a coin toss which seems unfair and offaly are on a hiding to nothing going to nowlan park, realistically Kilkenny would probably beat offaly comfortably no matter what the venue is Fancy kk and Waterford for comfortable wins (regrettably as a wexford supporter),hard to back against the dubs with their Parnell park record and I could see Clare and tipp going to extra time
