Hull fan who confronted Richard Keogh after play-off apologises

The club have handed Adam Pardoe a lifetime ban from their games.

THE HULL FAN who confronted Derby captain Richard Keogh after the teams’ semi-final play-off second leg has issued an apology for his behaviour on the night.

After Derby lost out 3-2 on aggregate at the KCOM Stadium, jubilant home fans invaded the pitch.

One individual, subsequently identified as 26-year-old painter and decorator Adam Pardoe, had words with Keogh after the final whistle, with the supporter appearing to taunt the Ireland international.

Speaking to the Hull Daily Mail, Pardoe said: “I was stupid in even saying anything. It was in the heat of the moment and I am extremely sorry. I know it’s not acceptable. I have badly let down my family and the club.

I went to the game with some friends and had a few drinks. After the game, myself and everyone else went onto the pitch to celebrate. I saw Keogh and I said: ‘Enjoy your next season in the Championship’. He was obviously agitated with that and there was an exchange of words.”

Pardoe, who has been jailed twice in recent years — for attacking a 70-year-old man and 93-year-old woman inside their homes in separate incidents — also indicated he would be willing to personally apologise to Derby County’s player of the year, adding:

“If I’m honest, they (Derby County) played a great game… I was out of order. If there is anything I can do to make this situation up I gladly will.”

Yet despite Pardoe’s apology, Hull have banned him for life from attending their games. A statement from the club read:

We have written to Mr Pardoe following our investigation into the incident at the stadium on Tuesday night to inform him that he has now been banned from all Hull City fixtures. This ban is a lifetime ban.

“We are also advised the Stadium Management Company has issued a similar ban for the stadium.”
