Hingis back in Fed Cup team after 17 years... and she's aiming to get to Rio next year

Five-time grand slam singles champion Martina Hingis has Olympic ambitions.

MARTINA HINGIS HAS been included in Switzerlandโ€™s Fed Cup squad for the first time since 1998, as she bids to reach next yearโ€™s Olympic Games in Brazil.

The 34-year-old, who won five grand slam singles titles, has been named in the team to face Poland in the World Group play-offs later this month.

She has not featured in the event since Switzerland lost to Spain in the final 17 years ago, but needs to play in order to become eligible to go to Rio.

Hingis is joined in the team by Timea Bacsinszky, Stefanie Voegele and Viktorija Golubic.

Iโ€™ve loved watching her play since she came back. Unlike so many other professionals, she clearly enjoys being out there.
