Rangers' turbulent week goes from bad to worse at Hibernian

Caretaker manager Kenny McDowall’s reign started in disastrous fashion.

RANGERS SUFFERED THEIR heaviest defeat to Hibernian since 1912 as a week which saw serious concerns raised over the running of the club after the departure of Ally McCoist ended with a 4-0 hammering.

McCoist, who was in charge at Ibrox for three-and-a-half years, was placed on gardening leave last Sunday after handing in his resignation a week earlier.

And, Kenny McDowall’s – who was McCoist’s assistant – reign got off to the worst possible start as Rangers were torn apart at Easter Road as they slipped to their fifth defeat in just 17 matches.

Their hopes of securing the one automatic promotion berth back to the Scottish Premier League has been further dented as Hearts can extend their lead at the summit to 15 points if they beat Livingston later today.

Jason Cummings then doubled Hibs’ lead after 12 minutes before two goals after the interval heaped more woe on Rangers as the club’s week went from bad to worse.
