VIDEO: 12 Welshmen in Jonathan Davies' Lions starting XV

Gavin Hastings is, thankfully, made of saner stuff.

SOMEBODY CALL THE objectivity cops.

Former Wales back and now BBC rugby pundit Jonathan Davies has selected 13 Welshmen in his British & Irish Lions starting XV to face Australia in the First Test this summer.

‘Jiffy’, as he is affectionately known uses the not too unreasonable argument that Wales have won the Six Nations and their coach, Warren Gatland, is leading the Lions to Oz.

The only players to break the Welsh love-in are lock Geoff Parling, and the English pair of Owen Farrell and Manu Tuilagi. Davies selected Sam Warburton as his first-choice captain.

Bringing some Scottish sense – a rare feat – to proceedings is former Scotland captain Gavin Hastings.

The Lions top points-scorer has eight Welshmen in his best XV but four Ireland players make the cut including Brian O’Driscoll, who Hastings wants to captain the Lions against the Wallabies.
