A FANTASTIC FOUR days for Padraig Harrington ultimately ended in disappointment as he lost out in his quest for a win at the Czech Masters to Italy’s Andrea Pavan.
The 29-year-old went into today’s final round at Albatross Golf Resort sharing the lead with Harrington and although the veteran Dubliner got off to a superb start to lead by three shots at the turn, the Italian showed determination to come back and post a winning score of -22, two clear of Harrington at the finish.

Three-time Major winner Harrington, who will turn 47 on Friday, birdied the first to put himself on the front foot and increased his momentum with further birdies at the sixth and ninth.
The Italian began to scrap his way back into contention after the turn, going into the red on 10 and 12, forcing Harrington to deliver a superb approach shot on the 13th to re-establish a two-shot cushion – which he did in style, driving within inches of the hole.
Unfortunately for Harrington that nor his final round of 69 and total of -20 wasn’t enough to hold Pavan at bay. The Italian drew level again as the veteran bogeyed on 15, while Pavan continued his hot streak with birdies on 14, 16 and 17 to take a two-shot to the 18th fairway and leave the Dubliner still chasing his first tournament win in two years.
