Hard times: NBA star West runs out of cash and seeks minimal wage job at Home Depot

The NBA Lockout has not been kind to Delonté West, who has been forced to apply for work at retail chain Home Depot

SHOPPERS AT AMERICAN hardware chain Home Depot could soon find themselves being served by a star of the NBA – former Boston Celtics combo guard Delonté West.

This is not a Paris Hilton-goes-slumming-it-style reality show, but down to the fact that the 28-year-old has run out of cash.

West tweeted last week that he had filled out an application for Home Depot in the absence of any NBA action – play is currently suspended due to the Lockout.

The player’s fiscal problems stem from his arrest in 2009 when he was pulled over on a three-wheel motorcycle, carrying two handguns, a shotgun and a knife. The guns were all loaded. His legal woes have also prevented him from seeking work overseas.
