Happy man? Heynckes expects Robben to stay put

Arjen Robben is on the verge of signing a new deal with Bayern Munich, coach Jupp Heynckes says.

BAYERN MUNICH COACH Jupp Heynckes believes that Arjen Robben will renew his deal at the club in the near future.

The Netherlands international had been on the verge of agreeing to a new contract, despite reportedly being unhappy after sitting on the bench for three games earlier this season.

But Heynckes said on Monday that the 28-year-old is very likely to stay at the Allianz Arena.

“I personally expect that Arjen will put pen to paper at some point during this round,” Heynckes said ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League quarter-final return leg against Marseille..

I think that he will soon show once again how important he is to Bayern Munich.

The length of the new deal has not yet been revealed, but it is believed that it will run at least until 2015.

Robben joined Bayern from Real Madrid in the summer of 2009, and has since developed into a key player at the Bavarians.
