Having notched the fastest times in the first and second practice sessions a day earlier, Hamilton zipped around the Hungaroring circuit in a best time of 1 minute, 20.953 seconds on Saturday.

It was Hamilton’s third pole of the season and McLaren’s 150th as a manufacturer since being founded in 1963.
Lotus driver Romain Grosjean (+0.413s) will join the Brit on the front row while Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel (+0.463s) and Hamilton’s team-mate Jenson Button (+0.630s) next best.
Kimi Raikkonen (+0.777s) of Lotus was fifth and will start alongside Alonso (+0.891s).
Alonso’s Ferrari teammate Felipe Massa (+0.947s) was seventh fastest, followed by Williams pair Pastor Maldonado (+0.986s) and Bruno Senna (+1.390s).
Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg (+1.894s) rounded out the top 10.
Championship contender Mark Webber (+0.655s) of Red Bull finished a disappointing 11th, just hours after posting the fastest time in third and final practice.
