The 27-year-old, who has been linked with a move to Mercedes next year, clocked a time of one minute 25.290 seconds on Friday with team-mate Jenson Button just 0.038s adrift.

World-championship leader Fernando Alonso was a further 0.020s back but again endured issues with his car after suffering an engine failure in first practice.
The Spaniard was forced to pit early in the session after problems with his left-front brakes only for his gearbox to fail as he returned to the track.
Team-mate Felipe Massa was fourth with German Niko Rosberg 0.016s behind in fifth.
Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen was sixth, followed by Force India duo Paul di Resta and Nico Hulkenburg and Sauber’s Sergio Perez.
First session pace-setter Michael Schumacher could only manage 10th after his DRS system malfunctioned.
Red Bull continued to struggle with Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel finishing in 11th and 13th respectively, while Australian Daniel Riccariardo was a further two places.
