Adopted Irishman Gunnar Nelson to headline UFC Fight Night in Stockholm

It will be first time Nelson has headlined a UFC event.

FRESH FROM A victory over Zak Cumming’s at the UFC Dublin event last month, the John Kavanagh/SBG trained Gunnar Nelson is set to headline the first UFC event of his career.

Nelson, who is on a 13-fight win streak, will fight Rick ‘the horror’ Story at UFC Fight Night Stockholm on October 4 having picked up the “Performance of the Night” bonus in Dublin.

The Icelandic fighter has won three of his four UFC bouts by submission.

Nelson, who trains with top Irish MMA fighters like Conor McGregor and Cathal Pendred told the UFC:

““I am honoured to fight in Sweden and to headline this card.

“I expect the Swedish crowd to be pretty loud. I believe I have a big fan base in Sweden.

“They love my style of fighting and I am of course Scandinavian so we have a good connection. So overall I think it’s going to be a great night – I am really excited about this opportunity.”

The full card for the event which takes place in the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm is:
