Guardiola is history, says Mourinho's right-hand man Karanka

“The Spanish league has existed without Guardiola and will now continue without Guardiola,” the Bernabeu coach told reporters.

REAL MADRID ASSISTANT coach Aitor Karanka believes La Liga will remain the same despite Pep Guardiola’s impending departure.

Barcelona coach Guardiola has announced he will step down at the end of the season, but Karanka thinks that the impact of his decision is being blown out of proportion.

“The Spanish league has existed without Guardiola and will now continue without Guardiola,” Karanka told reporters. ”His numbers are there after four years. But he is history now, while the league will continue forever.”

Karanka then turned his attention to the challenges that lie ahead for Real in La Liga, with tricky tests against Sevilla and Athletic Bilbao coming up for Jose Mourinho’s side.

“This team thinks and plays game by game. First, we have to win at Sevilla and then we’ll think of the Athletic Bilbao encounter,” Karanka said.  ”If we get three points each time, there will be a happy ending to the title race for us.”

Top-placed Real lead nearest rivals Barcelona by seven points with four matches remaining.
