One of Ireland's upcoming Euro 2016 opponents features in the La Liga team of the season*

*And it’s not Toni Kroos.

LA LIGA CAME to an end at the weekend, with Barcelona claiming another league title.

Consequently, it’s no surprise to see a couple of the Catalan side’s players feature in  team of the season published by UEFA.com.

Claudio Bravo is picked as the goalkeeper, with fellow Barca players Dani Alves and Gerard Pique featuring in the backline.

The Barcelona duo are joined by Valencia’s highly-rated centre-back Nicolás Otamendi, as well as their left-back José Luis Gayà.

Sevilla midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak, who played against Ireland at the Aviva Stadium back in March, and will likely feature in the sides’ return clash in Poland , is included.

Real Madrid’s summer signing James Rodríguez and Valencia’s Dani Parejo occupy the other two midfield spots.

And finally, there are no surprises with the attack, as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo feature, as does Antoine Griezmann, who scored 22 goals in 37 league games for Atletico Madrid this season, and has been linked with a move to Chelsea as a result.

Looking forward to John Cooney coming to Ulster. He could surprise a few people if he stays fit and if he gets game time. Paul Marshall really always has been an impact player. It will be interesting to see if he can gel with PJ and how well he can develop.
