Quick-fire Griezmann goals tear Irish hopes to shreds

Ireland are behind and down to 10 men.

UP UNTIL THE 57th minute, Ireland dared to dream of a quarter-final, but we’ve been dealt not one but two hammer blows around the hour mark.

Antoine Griezmann scored both goals as Les Bleus pulled themselves into the lead in Lyon.

The Atletico man’s first was a bullet header that flew past Darren Randolph.

And the second, just three minutes later, was a dagger to Irish hearts as he collected an Olivier Giroud knock-down and calmly finished.

Griezmann came close to completing a lightning quick hat-trick, but Shane Duffy ate a red card to deny him the chance when clean through on goal.
