VIDEO: Ronaldo and Messi exchange goals in the Spanish Super Cup

The Portuguese star came out on top however, as Real Madrid claimed their first trophy of the season.

THE WORLD’S TWO best players were both on target last night as Real Madrid drew first blood in the El Clasico by winning the Spanish Super Cup.

Gonzalo Higuain opened the scoring thanks to poor defending by Javier Mascherano before Ronaldo made a fool of his former Manchester United team-mate Gerard Pique with a brilliant flick over the defender’s head and applied the finish past Victor Valdes.

Barcelona pulled one back when Lionel Messi got in on the action with a beautifull-taken free-kick but, at 4-4 on aggregate, Jose Mourinho’s men claimed their first silverware of the season on away goals.
