Glamour friendly: Limerick confirm Man City to visit Thomond Park

The Premier League champions will take part in a preseason match in August, it was announced today.

AIRTRICITY LEAGUE FIRST Division side Limerick FC will play Manchester City, it has been confirmed by the club today.

The Premier League champions, who won the title in dramatic fashion on the final day of last season, will visit Ireland for a preseason friendly and will bring a full strength squad to take on Pat Scully’s side on Sunday, August 5 –  one week before they meet Chelsea in the Community Shield.

At a press conference this morning, club chairman Pat O’Sullivan announced that Munster’s Thomond Park will host the match in what is a major coup for the city two years after the FAI and the Airticity League forced the club to cancel a proposed friendly with Barcelona.

Kick-off is set for 7pm and ticket are on sale from Ticketmaster now.
