THE GERMANS STILL have a soft-spot for Giovanni Trapattoni.

The man that staged the greatest post-match rant while coaching Bayern Munich in the 1990s was back in the south of Germany recently with more baggage on his mind – shopping.

The Irish coach was in Munich at the opening of the second phase of a shopping centre, Pasing Arcaden.

He even hung out with a giant Playmobil pirate, who handed him a toy digger. You could not make this stuff up:

This weekend, however, it was back to footballing issues as he checked out Irish players such as Seamus Coleman and Wes Hoolahan in the Everton v Norwich City match at Carrow Road.
