Gibraltar score their first ever competitive goal to give the Scots an almighty scare

Ireland fans were watching this one closely.

GIBRALTAR, THE LOWEST ranked team in Europe, have recorded their first ever competitive goal.

The Group D minnows, who are competing in their first qualifying campaign, have lost all four of their previous matches and fell 1-0 behind to Scotland in Hampden Park thanks to a Shaun Maloney penalty.

However, they remarkably hit back two minutes later through Lee Casciaro โ€” who works as a policeman when not playing part-time football.

The Scots responded swiftly and after leading 4-1 at the break, went onto score twice after the interval with Fletcher bagging a hat-trick.

@Jacob: Not about blame unless heโ€™s planning on getting out of the game early, the short-term gamble on LIV is ill-advised this early in his career. Having just won his PGA card, a couple of seasons on that, and then moving to LIV if it still exists would have been the intelligent move.
