Drama at Stamford Bridge as referee sends off wrong player

Kieran Gibbs received a red card when it should have gone to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

AS IF BEING 3-0 down within 20 minutes wasn’t bad enough, Arsenal have also had to deal with having the wrong player sent off by referee Andre Marriner.

The drama started when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain stopped Eden Hazard’s shot with a despairing dive. As you can see, it was clearly a penalty:

However, the real controversy came afterwards when Marriner showed a red card to Kieran Gibbs instead of Oxlade-Chamberlain, despite the Arsenal midfielder appearing to own up to handball:
