Kruis: Second row is one of Sarries' star men. David Davies

England international Kruis faces bite citing that could end his season

David Wilson faces “eye gouge” charge as part of the same Premiership incident.

SARACENS FACE AN anxious wait after their English international lock George Kruis was cited for an alleged bite just days before their Champions Cup quarter-final against Northampton.

Both Kruis and international team-mate David Wilson are set to face a disciplinary hearing tomorrow evening following an incident in Sarries’ Premiership win against Bath.

Wilson has been cited for allegedly making contact with Kruis’ eye or eye area during the same altercation. Both men liable to face punishments of 12 weeks or more if the charges are upheld.

Any ban for Kruis would be a blow for Sarries as they approach the business end of the domestic and European seasons, and also potentially for England who could lose their star for the tour of Australia in June.

Bath prop Wilson, who has 44 international caps, was last capped in the World Cup win against Uruguay and did not feature in the Six Nations under Eddie Jones.

That Dylan Hartley has literally been a bad influence on all those that were around him in the England pack

He did captain then to a grand slam all the same – can’t have all been bad.

@Brian, As much as I think Jones is an arse, instilling a bit more of a rough edge on the England squad worked wonders. Think we missed a trick by not targeting and winding up Hartley at Twickers… We don’t tend to do gamesmanship of this sort bit it can play a role in a teams success! In short are we too nice?

Peter O Mahony would be the right man for that job.

Sounds as if Kruis was just defending himself. Allegations of biting of fingers need to be viewed in the light that the bitten party was probably trying to gouge or hook the mouth

Two wrongs dont make a right. Gouging is the lowest form of ill-discipline in the rugby field, but biting an opponent, regardless of whether they were provoked is also inexcusable.

@Martin, find that hard to accept. If that was the case, then Danny Grewcock was hard done by being banned for “biting” Kevin Mealanu’s hand and i recall Dylan Hartley being banned for biting Rory Best’s hand. Were there mitigating circumstances here too? Provoked or not, biting a fellow player is unacceptable.

Completely ridiculous that Kruis has been cited. Hopefully he gets cleared. Wilson should get a long ban.
