GEORGE BEST WAS seventeen years old when he gave his first television interview to a Northern Irish broadcaster.
The teenager had only made his debut for Manchester United earlier that season but became an important part of Matt Busby’s side as they ran Liverpool close for the title, eventually finishing second.
The interview took place just before Best would sample his first piece of silverware – the 1964 FA Youth Cup – and takes in a number of different topics.
Best explains why he was never selected to play a schools international for Northern Ireland while he’s also quizzed on ‘the earnings that can be made in football’.
His shyness and reserved nature is a far cry from the mercurial genius he conjured on the field.
It’s a fascinating watch.
Not sure how a Sigerson cup list of 8 key players can done without naming Enda Smith the MVP for DCU last year.
Absolutely Enda Smith class act!!
