FORMER CONNACHT CAPTAIN Gavin Duffy is expected to feature for Salthill/Knocknacarra in the Galway senior football championship tomorrow afternoon.
TheScore.ie understands that there is speculation that Duffy won’t be involved in the Mayo panel for Sunday’s Connacht semi-final against Roscommon at Dr Hyde Park.
Last night Duffy trained with Salthill/Knocknacarra ahead of their Galway SFC first round clash with An Cheathru Rua at the weekend.
Salthill/Knocknacarra, All Ireland champions in 2006, won the last of their three Galway county titles two years ago. Galway senior players Finian Hanley and Sean Armstrong are amongst their ranks and they will be boosted by the addition of Duffy.
This week 32 year old Duffy, capped 10 times for Ireland, was announced as Connacht Rugby’s Senior Development Executive working within the Commercial & Marketing department at the Sportsground.
Ballina native Duffy, who played in the 1999 All Ireland minor decider for Mayo, has been training with Salthill-Knocknacarra and Mayo in recent weeks and could figure for the Seasiders at Pearse Stadium tomorrow.
Top player. Will be a great addition to one of the big clubs after next season.
@Stephen Walsh: your 2 years late with that attempt of a joke
Considering not a soul gave LFC any chance to realistically compete for the title back in September, the progress this season has been significant, regardless of what happens. The long-awaited return of Oxlade-Chamberlin could be the tonic in midfield LFC have desperately missed this season.
@Dave O’Shaughnessy: him and Gomez will really make a difference in the final few games hopefully
The guy is a collossus
@Ronan McGrath: and imagine… he survived appendicitis. Some man for one man… made of the same stuff as POC?
I hope Liverpool bury Spurs on Sunday and keep their dodgy run going.
Will move to Spain
Will look good in a Barca jersey, you heard it here first
@David Weston: fantastic scoop lad. Hopefully the 42 are hiring.
Van Dijk. Is this not the same guy that was found out while playing for Holland against Germany?
