Wales Rugby coach Warren Gatland says he will decide on his future as manager of the national team within the next month.

Gatland’s contract runs out after the next Rugby World Cup in 2011, but his future has been the subject of much rumour.

“I have had some long discussions with Roger Lewis (WRU group chief executive) and there is a four-year offer on the table,” he told BBC’s Scrum V. ”I have loved my time in Wales but there are family pressures in New Zealand to take into consideration. My family would like dad to be back home. I have to weigh everything up, but to be fair to everyone I hope to make a decision within a month.”

The New Zealander has been manager of the Welsh national team since 2007, and previously managed Ireland.

As for his future, Gatland told Planet Rugby that he is mulling over an offer from his homeland. ”As well as talking to Wales, I’ve had an approach from New Zealand about a position back there. So I am weighing up now whether to stay on or go back.”
