'I've given up time with my son': Laois forward Walsh gutted after being cut from panel

Walsh let his annoyance boil over after being substituted at half-time of the defeat to Dublin.

LAOIS FORWARD GARY Walsh took to Twitter last night to take issue with the way he was unceremoniously cut from the county panel.

Walsh was substituted at half-time of the 2 – 21 to 2 – 10 loss to Dublin in Kilkenny on Saturday.

In a screengrabbed statement last night, he admits he allowed frustrations get the better of him at that moment, letting ‘a few fucks’ out. But added that he was ‘gutted’ to miss the chance to represent his county in the qualifier stage of the All-Ireland senior football championship, starting with Armagh in Portlaoise next Saturday.

“I’m even more frustrated now as I have given up time with my son, girlfriend and family for the last eight months to be tossed to the curb, it was like the phonecall cost no thought.”
