GARY TWIGG MARKED his move north to the Danske Bank Premiership with the winner on his long-awaited debut for Portadown.
The former Shamrock Rovers striker made an instant impression when he headed home the only goal in Saturday’s 1-0 win against Donegal Celtic.
Transfer restrictions meant that Twigg, who left Rovers in October after four seasons with the Hoops, was not eligible to make his first competitive appearance until the new year.
But the Scot shook off the lack of match practice and scored with a near-post header in the 50th minute, moving Ronnie McFall’s side to within three points of a place in the top six.
