Signed up: Bale pens new Spurs deal

The Welsh star has agreed a new contract which aims to keep him at White Hart Lane until 2016.

GARETH BALE HAS agreed to a new four-year deal with Tottenham that will keep him at White Hart Lane until 2016.

The Welsh star has long been linked with a move away from the club with both Manchester United and Barcelona reported to be interested in signing the 22-year-old, but he has now committed his future to the north Londoners.

“I’ve been here for five years now and I’ve enjoyed every minute. The fans have been great to me and I’d love to re-pay them and do the very best for them,” he told the club’s official website.

“The club is progressing and I want tobe a part of that, so it was great to get the deal done.

I love the club and the fans and I want to play my part in trying to get us back into the Champions League – where we belong.

“We’ve a good, young squad and we need to work together to get back on the biggest stage again.”
