Bale's agent effectively rules out Man United move but insists situation at Madrid hasn't improved

Real Madrid are reportedly open to Gareth Bale leaving, but his agent doubts Manchester United are an option and he will not approve a loan.

GARETH BALE IS “very unlikely” to join Manchester United and will not leave Real Madrid in a loan deal, according to his agent.

Bale joined Madrid in 2013 after emerging as one of the Premier League’s best players at Tottenham, commanding what was then a world-record transfer fee of €100 million.

His first three seasons were a success, as he scored 47 La Liga goals in 81 appearances and helped Madrid to two Champions League titles.

However, from an individual perspective, the following three campaigns have been rather more difficult, as Bale has been troubled by fitness problems and struggled to hold down a place in the starting XI.

Madrid are reportedly willing to let him leave and United – who are said to have wanted him when he was at Southampton and Spurs – have been tentatively linked, but a move seems improbable.

“He could fit in there,” Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett told Sky Sports News when asked about a potential move to Old Trafford.

“I think he could do very well – he is still one of the best players in the world, but it is very unlikely.”

Given Madrid’s valuation of Bale and his huge wages, media reports had suggested a loan move away from the Santiago Bernabeu might be more realistic than an outright sale, with Bayern Munich said to be interested.

But Barnett dismissed such a scenario out of hand, adamant only a remarkable offer – and not a loan – would persuade Bale to leave Spain.

“A loan move is not going to happen, there’s more chance of me winning Ascot,” Barnett added. “I don’t think he wants to go out on loan.

He’s got a lovely life and home in Spain. I think it would take something exceptional for him to leave and loans are not on the menu. Obviously, Gareth’s situation at Real hasn’t improved.

A loan move is idea because your client Bale is 30 years of age, no club will want to pay over 100 million for him, and no club will want to pay his wages, A loan move, with both clubs paying half and half of your wages mate, ideal scenario, Celtic would be a good club, he could fit in there.

@Alan Brazil: He won’t cost 100m on the wages he’s on. Real will have to let him go on the cheap to get him off the wage bill especially with all the cheddar they are spending this summer.

@Dino Baggio: real won’t let him go cheap , but all they’ll ask is for their money back . 100M and done deal . The other option is quite realistic , Bale stays and earns his place . He has the quality just needs to integrate himself into the team . Most players after 6/7 seasons at Real Madrid are eligible for captaincy armbands … Bale couldn’t call the toss in Spanish right now ..

@Limón Madrugada: that’s why I think it’s unlikely he’ll stay at Madrid or even in Spain. If he hasn’t tried to integrate in the 6 years he’s already been there he’ll hardly start now. He could just stay until the end of his contract and leave on a free. He comes across as the sort of bloke who’d be happy to sit on the bench and pick up the wages he’s on now. But if he wants to play he’ll need to leave and take a pay cut. I think only City could match the wages he’s on now if he wants to return to England, and they don’t seem interested. Will he interesting to see how it plays out over the summer.

@Ger: you never know . I honestly think his agent is to blame too . He should have hired a Spanish agent as an intermediary or teamed up with Mendes .

@Limón Madrugada: totally agree. Had he hired Mendes he would be in a totally different position within the Madrid “family”. I just had this same conversation with a mate over the weekend. I’d love to see him back in the premiership though. If only to get him on my fantasy football team haha.
