MAYO’S WINNING GOAL in the 59th minute was the first time they led in today’s Connacht minor championship semi-final.

Galway raced into a two point lead, within two minutes, with Paul Mannion adding the second.

While Mayo did manage a score of their own in the third minute, Galway scored the next four – Matthew Reddington’s point on 16 minutes leaving it 0-6 to 0-1.

Mayo were handed a lifeline in the final minute of the first-half, when they were awarded a penalty. The reigning All-Ireland championships took their opportunity and closed the gap to three going in at the break.

The second-half proved far more even, as the teams went point-for-point before a second Mayo goal by Liam Byrne then levelled proceedings.

The Tribesmen were then shook my the loss of midfielder Micheal Daly who recieved his second yellow card. His loss proved vital as just afer levelling proceeding for the first time in the game, Mayo then took the lead for the first time with a third goal.

They now face Roscommon in a repeat of last year’s final.
