GALWAY GAA HAVE decided to move the hurling county final as a mark of respect to inter-county player Niall Donoghue who died last night.
Joe Canning’s Portumna will play Loughrea in the decider for the fifth time in 11 years with many players involved having played alongside Donoghue.
However as the game was scheduled to take place this Sunday, the same day as Donoghue’s funeral, the county board has postponed the throw-in by 24 hours.
The minor hurling final between Turloughmore and Liam Mellows will also now take place on Monday. The throw-in times for both county finals are unchanged – 13.00 and 14.45 respectively.
