BARRY GERAGHTY MARKED his comeback in style as he ended his long wait for a first win in the Guinness Galway Hurdle.
Back in the saddle this week after three months out injured, Geraghty treated the Ballybrit crowd to a masterclass on board Tigris River in Thursday’s feature race.
Geraghty had first pick of seven JP McManus runners and made no mistake with the Joseph O’Brien-trained six-year-old, who got up on the line to beat Swamp Fox by a neck.

“I was second here a few times,” a delighted Geraghty told RTÉ afterwards.
“I fell at the last coming to challenge on Thomas Edison two years ago, I got off Missunited (in 2013) – I think I’ve had six chances to win it.”
Third coming into the straight, Tigris River (5/1 2f) powered past the fading Airlie Beach (9/1) and then pipped Swamp Fox (8/1) at the post.
“He quickened from the back of the last,” Geraghty said.
“I didn’t think I’d get him. It was only in the last 70 yards he was reeling him in.”
