Galway stick with winning formula for Cork clash

Alan Mulholland has named an unchanged side for tomorrow’s Round 4 qualifier in Headquarters.

GALWAY HAVE NAMED an unchanged side for their win-or-bust qualifier against Cork in Croke Park.

The Tribesman shocked Armagh last weekend and manager Alan Mulholland has stuck with the same starting XV for tomorrow’s Round 4 qualifier.

The team features five men who started Galway’s win over Cork in the All-Ireland U21 semi-final two seasons ago: goalkeeper Manus Breathnach, Johnny Duane, Tom Flynn, Conor Doherty and Danny Cummins, the goalscorer in Salthill last Saturday night.

Cork meanwhile have named a team showing six changes from their Munster final defeat to Kerry, with manager Conor Counihan likely to keep his true plans close to his chest until shortly before throw-in.

Ken O’Halloran, Noel O’Leary, Paudie Kissane, Fintan Goold, Paul Kerrigan and Donncha O’Connor are among the big names not included in the team named by Counihan on Wednesday evening.

Throw-in is at 5pm.

Galway (SF v Cork): Manus Breathnach; Donal O’Neill, Finian Hanley, Johnny Duane; Sean Denvir, Gary O’Donnell, Gary Sice; Paul Conroy, Tom Flynn; John O’Brien, Sean Armstrong, Conor Doherty; Michael Martin, Michael Meehan, Danny Cummins.
