THE GAA ANNUAL congress this morning voted overwhelmingly to allow the use of its grounds for rugby if the IRFU successfully bid for a World Cup in the next decade.
The rugby union is hopeful of putting together a package to attract the 2023 or 2027 Rugby World Cup to these shores, and today’s decision in Derry is a major step towards making that a possibility.
Motion 3: “to give Central Council the power to authorise the use of Croke Park and other stadia in the Rugby World Cup in 2023 or 2027, if either tournament is staged in Ireland” was passed by a landslide 92.71%.
