Here’s the round-up of today’s GAA club football action

Crokes out in Dublin as Castlebar march on to the final four in Mayo.

Dublin SFC second round

KILMACUD CROKES ARE out of the Dublin senior football championship after they lost 2-9 to 0-12 against Ballyboden St Enda’s.

Last year’s beaten Dublin finalists started strongest in O’Toole Park and led by 0-9 to 1-3 at the end of a scrappy first half.

Ballyboden limited Crokes to just one score for long stretches of the second half and with 10 minutes to play, the game was finely poised at 0-10 to 1-7.

And it was Ballyboden who took control in the final minutes, sealing their progress with a late goal.

Tempelogue Synge Street were no match for Parnells in the evening fixture. Parnells triumphed 1-22 to 0-5 and now go on to face St Jude’s in the quarter finals.

Mayo SFC quarter-finals

Castlebar Mitchells booked their place in the final four of the Mayo senior football championship with a comfortable nine-point win over Ballina Stephenites.

Inter-county star Barry Moran was in fine form for Castlebar, posting four points in the first half as they opened up an 0-12 to 1-4 lead at the break.

The game looked to be done and dusted when Neil Douglas fisted home a goal to make it 1-14 to 1-6 early in the second half, and any chance of a Ballina revival was snuffed out when Patrick McHale was shown a straight red card.

Charlestown Sarsfields defeated Garrymore  2-17 to 2-10 in the day’s second semi-final. Martin Mulvaney scored a crucial second half goal for Sarsfields to give them breathing space before a late Garrymore push.

Armagh SFC semi-final

St Patrick’s Cullyhanna and Ballymacnab played out a Saturday evening classic at the Athletic Grounds. Robbie Tasker’s personal tally of 1-7 for Cullyhanna was the difference as they won 1-14 to 2-10.

Donegal SFC semi-final

The Donegal semis were also a close affair as Glenswilly beat Ardara 1-14 to 0-16 to advance to the final. When Gary McFadden kicked a point with 15 minutes to play, Glenswilly led by six points but Ardara were not finished scrapping.

Scores from Brendan McNeills and Gareth Concar made it a tight finish as Glenswilly were grateful for a late point from Colin Kelly, which ultimately got them over the line.

Westmeath SFC semi-final replay

Inter-county star Denis Glennon scored a goal in either half as Tyrrellspass ended Mullingar Shamrocks’ reign as Westmeath senior football champions at the second time of asking.

Glennon’s first ensured that Tom Coffey’s side went into the break on level terms, 1-6 to 0-9, and they pulled clear for a 2-17 to 0-18 win in Cusack Park.

“I said to myself I have to play the game of my life out here today because I was so disappointed the last day,” Glennon told Midlands Sport afterwards.

“I went out with that attitude and thankfully because of the way the lads played out the field, I was able to do that.”

Tyrrellspass  meet St Loman’s in the county final next Sunday.

Wicklow SFC semi-final replay

Rathnew and St Mary’s will have to do it all over again after their Wicklow SFC semi-final ended in another draw after extra time. The final score: Rathnew 0-18 St Mary’s 1-15.

Waterford SFC semi-final

Stradbally took on An Rinn at Fraher Field in the evening’s final throw-in. Goals from David Grey, Luke Casey and Robert Aherne were the highlights of an emphatic 3-18 to 1-3 victory for Stradbally.

Castlebar looked strong yesterday alright but I was shocked at how bad ballina were. Pat Harte was their only man and magarrity was brutal

Castlebar Mitchell’s are a powerful looking outfit this year. Good value bet at this stage to topple St. Bridget’s dominance out west
