Friends in high places: O'Dowd pays tribute to 'Cake' Curran

St Brigids’ most famous fan tweeted the veteran goalkeeper on their All-Ireland Club semi-final triumph.

SHANE CURRAN’S CELEBRITY buddy has been onto him to congratulate the St Brigid’s goalkeeper on their All-Ireland Club SFC semi-final win.

The Roscommon side saw off Crossmaglen Rangers of Armagh by a scoreline of 2-07 to 1-09 on Saturday to end Rangers’ hopes of three-in-a-row.

Well-known actor Chris O’Dowd, who featured in goal for Roscommon at minor level, called 42-year-old Curran his “hero” on The Sunday Game last summer and earlier today tweeted the veteran netminder.

Curran, nicknamed ‘Cake’, responded with this:
