French rugby players have hair butchered as part of preseason hazing

The monk hair-do is expected to take off across mainland Europe this year.

HAZING THE NEW guys has been a long-cherished tradition in rugby clubs the world over.

The French second division is no different, as Stade Aurillacois two new signings, Maxime Escur and Baptiste Hezard, discovered over the weekend. The prop and lock were given some rudimentary haircuts by their new teammates and must front the look until the season officially kicks off.

Escur had a lovely ‘H’ shaved into the side of his head while Hezard was given a monk’s haircut. The duo were then sent to the nearest restaurant and given carry-out food orders by their teammates.

Outhalf Maxime Petitjean captured their moment of glory on his phone and posted the picture for the world to see:

Former Ulster hooker Nigel Brady has signed for the French side this summer, as has young winger Connor Gaston and Brian Hayes. Jeremy Davidson is on the club’s coaching staff.
