DONEGAL DEFENDER FRANK McGlynn has confirmed his retirement from the inter-county game.
An All-Ireland winner in 2012, McGlynn picked up an All-Star the same season while he also won five Ulster titles during an illustrious 14-year career with the county.
โHaving taken some time to consider my inter-county future I feel it is the right time to announce my retirement from the Donegal senior football team,โ said McGlynn in a statement released on the Donegal GAA website.
โIt has been an absolute honour to have worn the Donegal jersey for the past 14 seasons.
โI have experienced so much during my career and I will be forever grateful for this. From great victories to heavy defeats, I have enjoyed every minute of it. I have shared a dressing room with some of the best Donegal players ever. There are memories both on and off the field that I will never forget.
โI have gained so much from Gaelic football and Iโm grateful to the coaches and managers that gave me the opportunity to play for my county. I would like to thank the many supporters who followed us through both good and bad times. It has been a privilege to represent them on the field of play.
โI thank everyone in CLG Gleann Fhinne who put me in a position to represent my county and I look forward to a future of playing and coaching in the club where it all began.
โI thank my parents and family for their constant support and encouragement. To my wife Diane and my three children Harry, Gracie and Lucas, who have made many sacrifices to allow me to pursue an inter-county career. It has been an unbelievable journey and one that I feel blessed to have shared with my family.
โFinally, I would like to wish Declan Bonner and Donegal of 2020 the very best of luck. I look forward to supporting them in their quest for further Ulster and All Ireland success.โ
Of the side that featured in their All-Ireland final success seven years ago, Paul Durcan, Paddy McGrath, Neil McGee, Leo McLoone, Paddy McBrearty and Michael Murphy remain part of the Donegal panel.

@Bruce Lee: lions need to keep the ball in Play, speed up their attack, stop boxkick and stop running straight into an organised defence thatโs ready and waiting to smash them again see speed up attack.
@Chris Mc:
I think you are asking them to play rugbyโฆ. Which is a good ideaโฆ
I think Aki in back line could actually allow them to trust getting the ball to 13 and outside channels.
If you donโt get these SA running they will beat you in the arm wrestle
@Bruce Lee: Murray and Farrell will not cut it. Speed and creativity are required. Thatโs Price and Russell.
@Cowboy Paddy: as silly as that sounds yes to beat SA just play rugby. Measuring willies trying to smash through a SA organised defence is daft. Run, pass and take on soft shoulders with the odd offload, grubber past them and keep the pace of the game at an uncomfortable level for them.
@Bruce Lee: need to change number 1 and 2 jack done nothing wrong id also have henderson in ashead off the captain but that will never happen = WG
@Bruce Lee: AWJ shouldnโt even be on the bench, Farrell has had his chance, would start with Russell, Hamish deserves a shot too. Bundy against DA would be great. Surprised he hasnโt featured given its the king of โbish boshโ whoโs calling the shots.
