Paul Pogba retaliates after Wilson Palacios kicks lumps out of him

The Honduran was later sent-off after conceding a penalty.

FRANCE HAVE BEEN in complete control of their opening World Cup game against Honduras in Porto Alegre but there was plenty of first-half controversy.

Close to the half-hour mark, Paul Pogba clashed with Wilson Palacios. With the youngster on the turf, the Honduran was a little over-zealous in his attempts to win the ball back and at one point, appeared to stand on Pogba’s leg.

Pogba, unsurprisingly, didn’t like it and flicked his foot out at the former Tottenham midfielder. Palacios dramatically went tumbling and both players escaped with a yellow card.

Just before the break though, both players clashed again with Palacios charging into Pogba from behind in the Honduras area and the referee pointed to the spot. Palacios picked up a second booking for the offence and was sent-off.

Karim Benzema stepped up and drove it home to give France a 1-0 half-time lead.
