CARL FRAMPTON WASTED no time in sealing a world title shot when he knocked out Hugo Cazares in their WBC Super-Bantamweight final eliminator last night.
There was a slightly surreal finish to the fight after Frampton caught Cazares with a left hook midway through the second round.
As referee Victor Loughlin counted, the Mexican looked to be composing himself but failed to get back to his feet before the fight was waved off.

Afterwards Cazares said that the referee’s count was out of sync with the arena PA which confused him, but Frampton gave short shrift to the excuses.
“He doesn’t speak English but he’s been around the game long enough to be able to count to 10 in English. He was confused.
“The referee counted to 10 and he was still on his knees. You’re out of the fight if that happens. You can’t blame the referee. That’s just the bottom line.”
