TODAY MARKS FOUR years since a historic night in Irish football.

Having drawn 1-1 in the first leg, Shamrock Rovers faced a daunting trip to the home of Serbian side Partizan Belgrade for the second leg of a Europa League playoff.

Vladimir Volkov’s header gave the hosts the lead before a stunning strike from Pat Sullivan levelled the tie on 58 minutes.

The game then went into extra-time, and Stephen O’Donnell’s penalty with eight minutes remaining set up a famous win.

Ecstatic celebrations among the travelling support followed, as Rovers became the first-ever Irish team to reach the Europa League group stages.
