Foster fails to shine as she finishes 7th in 60m semi-final

The Lisburn runner missed out on the chance to compete in this evening’s final in Gothenburg.

AMY FOSTER HAS failed to qualify for the women’s 60m final in the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg, trailing in seventh in her semi-final on Sunday.

The 24-year-old, running in the outside lane, started off well and was among the leaders inside 20 metres.

However, she was quickly overtaken by the Ukrainian favourite Mariya Ryemyen, with Bulgarian Ivet Lalova, Germany’s Verena Sailer and Dafne Schippers of the Netherlands taking the other three qualifying spots.

The Lisburn runner’s time of 7.37 was almost three tenths of a second outside of Ryemyen’s winning result.
