Former Wexford boss Ryan joins Kildare coaching set-up

Ryan stepped down as the Model County manager in September after five successful years.

FORMER WEXFORD FOOTBALL manager Jason Ryan has joined Kieran McGeeney’s backroom team in Kildare.

Ryan stepped down as Wexford manager in September after five successful years, in which he brought the Model County to two Leinster finals and an All-Ireland quarter-final.

The 36-year-old had stated that he had no interest in managing a team this year but did not rule out coaching.

McGeeney had kept details of his coaching structure close to his chest, following the departures of Niall Carew and former Armagh player John Rafferty.

Carew has since taken over as Waterford manager.

Ryan and McGeeney’s former Armagh team-mate Oisín McConville had both been linked with Lilywhites roles, but the latter ruled himself out of the running earlier this week.
