ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC’S SPECTACULAR 30-yard overhead against England mid-week got everybody thinking about one of football’s timeless — and unanswerable — questions.
What is the best goal that you have ever seen scored?
We asked you in an open thread here and this is what you came up with. So, as Dermot O’Leary might say, in no particular order:

Any one remember that?
Remember it well Willie…he had a habit of scoring crackers.
Archie Gemmill for Scotland v Holland 1978 World Cup was one that always sticks out
Brilliant goal and also brilliant scene from Trainspotting.
Rivaldo’s overhead kick against Valencia from edge of box from 2001 i think. Last game of season, Barcelona needed to beat Valencia to qualify for Champions league, were 2-0 down when Rivaldo scored the best hat trick ive ever seen. Overhead kick was in injury time to win the game. He was still a diving git thou.
Anything to be said for Van Persie’s volley v Everton last season.
Technical perfection!
Cracking goal and I think if Di Canio’s against Wimbledon is in there so should van Persie’s against Charlton a few years back, stunning strike with power and both feet off the ground.
I think his volley vs Charlton is even better.
Robbie fowlers goal against Brann Bergen was world class
Looking through that you’ve got to feel sorry for Wimbledon, Eric’s touch and volley, the better of Yeboah’s two goals, Beckham’s from the half way line and Di Canio’s volley. Can anyone think of a great goal Wimbledon scored to put in to make them feel better!
Let’s not forget Gazza’s goal against Scotland at Euro 96
I was waiting for that. One of the best goals EVER!!!
Great shin work
Zlatan ibrahimovic for ajax v NAC…Top class…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgqsaDnsEq8
Not being biast but Giggs goal against Arsenal FA Cup replay in extra time and down to ten men against one of the meanest defences ever in the English league, all the other goals are certainly the best of the best but this one stands out for me for what the result meant .
Viera, oh oh oh, Viera oh oh oh, he gave Giggsy the ball, and Arsenal won f*** all! Good memories!
Beckham’s half-way lob stood out amongst that lot. He was too young to know he couldn’t score like that. The other lobs in the set seemed nearly flukes.
Didn’t Pele do something similar in the 50s or 60s?
no Pele tried it and failed, against Czechoslovakia i think, in the 70 world cup, was part of the big reason for the fuss when Beckham did it against Wimbledon.
Chris Forrester St Pats v Renters and another St Pats one would be Keith Faheys’ Rocket v Bohs
Airtricity League can be quality. Check these two out.

What was his name again? Philip?
These two from Liam Brady weren’t too shabby

Too many to make top 10 probably :)
Paul Gascoigne in England vs. Scotland during Euro 96 ? Just one example that did not make list and all worth it.
Ronald Koeman bomb from like over 30 metres in his Barcelona game vs. Porto, think 1994?
Those Predator Mania boots Zidane is wearing in the main pic were class. Wish they’d bring em back!
