Florence Bell fails to complete course in women's slalom

The teenage hopeful will chalk this one down to experience.

IRISH WINTER OLYMPIC hopeful Florence Bell failed to complete her run at the women’s giant slalom in Sochi earlier.

The nervy-looking 17-year-old struggled in difficult conditions, making an error on gate 12 and missing the next.

Violin virtuoso Vanessa Mae, Thailand’s first ever female skier at the Olympics meanwhile, came last.

The Singapore-born British former child prodigy came through the finish line in 67th place after two runs, a massive 50.10sec behind winner Tina Maze of Slovenia.

As well as Irish-qualified Sutton-Colefield native Bell, 15 other competitors failed to finish.
