Five steps to heaven...

The bookies have had a tough recession. Here’s five bets that might help them this weekend.

IT’S THAT TIME of the week again. Here’s an ambitious accumulator that could be your ticket to freedom – and your boss’s ticket to a long-overdue kick up the bottom.

1. Anyone fancy Crawley Town to hold out for 45 minutes at Old Trafford tomorrow evening? The Draw-Man U is at 6-5.

2. Though I hail from Leeside, how can I not plum for the Dubs at Croke Park tomorrow night when they’ll first be inspired by Jedward. Under lights.

A win for the home side is priced at 9-2.

3. Pádraig Harrington has started well in California. He could make it a great week for Dubliners with a 20-1 victory at the Northern Trust Opn.

4. The Cricket World Cup throws in/kicks off/ tees off this weekend. We recognise Sachin Tendulkar‘s and that’s good enough for us at this stage; the India star is at 3-1 to be his country’s top runscorer against Bangladesh.

5. Several of the Irish provinces are in Magners League action tonight. Connacht are 10-11 to see off Edinburgh in Galway.

Stake: €10

Potential returns: €15,876

Disclaimer: this accumulator has no change of coming in. Be nice to your boss.

We’ll have the bets you actually should’ve got behind on Monday.
