Your workout isn't done 'til you've completed these routine gym exercises

Put that ghetto blaster away and keep it simple.

FITNESS REGIMES ARE becoming more and more convoluted but the simplest exercises can be better than the latest fads.

Here’s what you should add to your routine?

1. Push up

The oldest trick in the fitness book — and still the best. Done correctly, and ideally in five sets of 10.

Why? It activates your core, biceps, triceps and back muscles and you’ll feel like you’ve done a good session if you did nothing else but push ups.

2. Box jumps

Another low-maintenance exercise with just a box required (preferably made of some hard substance that will take your body weight).

Why? Your legs, buttocks  and yes, even arms will be screaming if done correctly. Two minutes, as many as you can. You’ve had enough when you graze your shin on the front of the box Like this guy…

3. Hanging raises

A brute of an exercise. Plain and simple. Like the push up, this baby uses gravity and your body weight to give it its fearsome reputation.

Why? If you ever dreamed of looking like Cristiano Ronaldo after ‘that’ goal, this is your one.

4. Squats

Why? Few exercises work as many muscles as the squat, so it’s an excellent multi-purpose activity useful for toning and tightening your behind, abs, and, of course, your legs.

5. Planks

Probably the most mentally taxing of all exercises but why not set yourself a challenge to make it more tolerable? After all, the competition is only with yourself here so why not aim to hold it for five seconds longer every week? Starting at 30 seconds, building up to 15 minutes, like this guy…

Why? It gets results.
