Fit-again Keith Andrews moves to Brighton on loan

Andrews made his return to competitive action last weekend after almost eight months out with injury.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND international Keith Andrews has signed for Brighton and Hove Albion.

Andrews, 32, passed a medical at the Amex this morning before agreeing the final details of a season-long loan from Bolton Wanderers.

The midfielder made his return to competitive action last weekend after almost eight months on the sideline with thigh and Achilles’ injuries.

He played the full 90 minutes in Bolton’s 1-1 draw at Burnley and then came off the bench for the final minutes of their 3-1 win over Shrewsbury in the Capital One Cup midweek.

But Trotters boss Dougie Freedman appears to see him as surplus to requirements and allowed him to move south to their promotion rivals.

“Keith is a player who I know will enjoy the way we like to play,” Brighton boss Oscar Garcia said.

“He is a dynamic and energetic player and brings different qualities which will complement our existing midfielders, and he will bring added competition to our midfield.”

Andrews was not included in Giovanni Trapattoni’s squad for Wednesday’s friendly against Wales in Cardiff.
